The King in Yellow Book

A dangerous book of short stories written by Robert W. Chambers that includes mentions of a forbidden play which has driven those who read it to madness. It is an excellent add-on to The King in Yellow experience… at least for the foolhardy amongst you.

F. Tennyson Neely originally published this book in 1895 and has since worked tirelessly to ensure it reaches as many readers as possible while evading the sharp claws of censorship. It makes us wonder about his reasons and the potentially dark motivation underlying them.

If you have an unshakable confidence in your sanity and want to voluntarily put it to the test, you will enjoy these ten fantastically written short stories. Chambers is a master of macabre and romance, capable of transporting his readers to strange settings and touching within them emotions they daren’t touch themselves.

The book you will receive was — to phrase it politely — well-loved by its original owner, who took obsessive measures to keep it hidden. While not all the stories directly involve the Yellow King, after reading them you may find yourself intimately connected and with more knowledge about him than you wish to have known.

The list of stories is as follows:

  • "The Repairer of Reputations"
  • "The Mask"
  • "In the Court of the Dragon"
  • "The Yellow Sign"
  • "The Demoiselle d'Ys"
  • "The Prophets' Paradise"
  • "The Street of the Four Winds"
  • "The Street of the First Shell"
  • "The Street of Our Lady of the Fields"
  • "Rue Barrée"
