The Buried Puppet

A crate, once buried deep beneath the soil, is discovered on your doorstep. The truth of a ghastly crime is hidden within its contents and a subtle, yet strangely indecipherable scent, seeps through the cracks. In spite of yourself, you pick it up and bring it inside.

And so, you begin to unravel the story and bear the burden of young Jacob’s confession. Feeling alone against the world with nothing but a journal as his closest confidante, a teenage boy struggles through very tough times.

Now within your hands, begins the revelation of a dark, comedic and utterly bizarre horror. Page after page divulges an ever-troubling descent.

There are codes to break and secrets darker than you could ever fathom, but be warned: uncoiling the mystery of Jacob’s buried puppet is highly dangerous. If you attempt it be careful; you just may find yourself in stitches.

    Synopsis

This is the story of a young man’s confession, written on the pages of his detention-centre notebook. It tells of a boy moving to a new town after the loss of his mother. The bullies pick on him, his father grows distant, and — if that wasn’t bad enough — he starts seeing ghosts emerging from his bedroom walls. That’s when he finds a hidden puppet, and puts it on his hand…

Mr. Bellylaugh, it seems, is able to keep the ghosts, the bullies, and the loneliness at bay. But is the puppet really Jacob’s ally, or is there more to him than meets the eye? The answer might be found among the pages of his journal, in his free-hand sketches, through library database searches, or somewhere far more devious.

    Audience

The main themes of this experience are isolation, dark humour, bullying, haunting, murder and demonic possession. Your recipient will enjoy it if they are fans of horror, comedy, puppets, the occult, or just strange stories set in small-town America.

The Buried Puppet is unsettling and therefore not suitable for young audiences. It has has been officially classified 13+ by a third party rating expert.

    Wonderful, unique gift!

I ordered this for my son & his girlfriend. They are both into scary things so this fit the bill. The girlfriend tore into it immediately, but doesn’t like keeping the artifacts out of the box, because it creeps her out, especially the puppet. Also, customer service was incredible. I had to have it delivered by some way other than USPS because of package theft at my son’s apartment complex and they worked with me to have it delivered by UPS to a UPS store for pickup. My son has said he will definitely get others as a gifts for his girlfriend. Always looking for unique gifts for my grown kids and this company has hit it on the nose. Will be a repeat customer!

    Fun, creepy evening in

There was a definite point in the narrative where it crosses the point from feeling like a slightly interactive horror story where you're watching characters try to figure out what's going on before they get taken out, to being about you trying to figure out what's going on before you get taken out. A very fun albeit creepy night in.

Good Starter Mystery Experience for Young Adult+ Audiences

This activity is fun with friends and family (recommended for young adult+ audience). For my partner and I, it took a little more than an hour. This would also be a good starter mystery experience if you are new to The Mysterious Package Company. For those interested in a mystery experience comparable price wise and with a slightly higher difficulty, I would recommend 'The Weeping Book.'

Fascinating Story with An Easy Puzzle

Everything, from the journal, weathered library card, inhaler and even the box it all comes in are well crafted. The story draws you in, much like an episode of "The Twilight Zone" and my wife and I enjoyed reading through it. There was not much to solve at the end and we found the answer without having to figure out the puzzle, though we did that too. Very enjoyable for those who may want to read a creepy story on a stormy day but we like to work jointly on puzzles rather than read together; nonetheless, a fun hour or so.
