My friends enjoyed it
They had a good afternoon solving the mystery.
They left one of their own marooned on an island, you see. And they paid for it. When John Augur was hauled away in chains, the secret of his treasure was lost to the world.
But Augur’s story did not end there, and one clever treasure-hunter knows it.
Prepare for an adventure on the high seas, from the glory days of piracy in the 18th century to the present day. A trove of diary entries, official documents, pirates’ maps and windblown scraps awaits you as you help the intrepid Kelsey Franklin piece together one of the ocean’s deepest mysteries. Will she discover John Augur’s stolen riches? Or will she be doomed by the unfathomable power of those who wait for her beneath the waves?

Kept my escape room addicted family busy all evening, great fun
This was the first experience I have tried from The Mysterious Package Company. I got it for my family to do when they came to town to visit for a few days. We had such a fun time reading through all the notes and letters that were written. The amount of detail this company put into this experience is amazing, to the extent we were able to find actual references to real world events and an actual website. The attention to detail just really completed the atmosphere of the whole experience, and finding out we were correct on some things and then finding the smallest references as we went over the writings multiple times which led to breakthroughs was exciting for everyone. Once we were done there were still references to things that we were only able to speculate on and allusions to future adventures. I absolutely will purchase another experience in the future, and I highly recommend this experience in particular if you're a fan of pirates and treasure hunts.
My children are grown and none of us need gifts at Christmas, but it's always good to have something fun to do. This year, I ordered the Lost Treasure of John Augur. Oh my goodness! I had all three packages since I knew we'd have to do them in a shorter time frame. Over the course of their 4 day visit, solving that mystery was top priority! We'd be eating a meal and one of them would jump up and say, "Hey, what about if we do this," and the conversation would ramp back up to solving the mystery. Even once they'd "solved" the puzzle, and opened the final envelope, there was still a stunning revelation at the end. Such great fun!
I've always loved pirate stories and puzzles, and this was a great "first time" experience for me! Can't wait for my next one!
