The King in Yellow: a play that can never be produced. Audienceless and playerless, it dreams on the page, awaiting that rare company with the strength and spirit to bring it to life.
That time is now. That company is ours.
Phantom of Truth Productions is pleased to announce that we have done the impossible. For one night only, we will break the seal and bring The King in Yellow to the stage. And we hope that you, our dear friend, will accept the very last ticket.
A play so strange, so otherworldly, that it could change the very fabric of existence.
How exhilarating! How wonderful! How… absolute!
Should you agree to receive Hastur, you will receive a ticket to the show… but you won’t be able to attend. You’ll soon discover that this has saved your life. The audience of The King in Yellow met a fate so gruesome and terrible that it is spoken of only in whispers, and written only in scraps.
You will also receive those scraps, and those whispers. Artifacts that hint at the darkness between the words of the play. Relics, rune-scrolls, star-charts, a dossier streaked with blood. As the only ticket-holder still living, you are the only one who can solve the many complicated puzzles and decipher the mystery of The King in Yellow.
And it must be done. The performance has released a malevolent force into the world, and it knows exactly who you are.
HASTUR is a crown jewel of our offerings, the fearsome, immersive adventure of a lifetime for those fascinated by horror, the dark arts, demonology, and Lovecraft: spanning centuries, crossing universes, testing the bounds of sanity. You must use all your strength to withstand the ochre madness – at least long enough to save us all, or to serve us up to the evil that dwells in the space between the stars…
So many intricate pieces and so much to figure out! So worth the cost to surprise my husband with this when it started showing up in the mail! Hours of enjoyment spent unraveling the mystery in the crate.
Like Filigree in Shadow, it seemed like I unpacked...and unpacked...and unpacked some more. As someone whose actual job involves reading through legal and court documents, sometimes going back to the 1800s, some of which are the actual original documents (not just scans or copies), I've been amazed and astounded by the seeming verisimilitude and authenticity of it all.
And like Filigree in Shadow, I ended up repacking it all to go over again at another time. I anticipate many pleasurable hours poring over letters and articles, deciphering codes, studying images and diagrams, and breathing a sigh of relief that my ticket to that one night's performance of The King in Yellow came too late.
I already knew about mysterious package overall quality, and I was not disappointed with this one. My only regret is that I did not back the Kickstarter, but I was still able to enjoy this fantastic experience. I will surely order the other experiences!
